Making sprockets….For 3D Tanks
Update for my Sherman Tank project..The sprocket.
This is my first design made by using the create polygon tool…
It looked good but the problem came at it didn’t fit the treads. So I had to redo it as per advice of my mentor.
He suggested that I modelled it normally via blocking. He told me about that the size of the sprocket was too big.
ok so now I’ve made a newer sprocket via blocking:
From this you would think that the one on the left is lighter compared to the one on the right..When I check the poly count for each here’s the list:
For the left sprocket:
Verts: 1616
Edges: 2450
Faces: 834
Tris: 3232
UVs: 2502
and for the right sprocket:
Verts: 600
Edges: 876
Faces: 288
Tris: 576
UVs: 672
Does the number matter?
So I went on continue adding the wheel and the screws and here it is:
With these I could start remaking the treads to fit with this sprocket.
Finally I’ve done it. Thanks to my mentor for the help. And now to make the treads….AGAIN!!
Ang Habulan animated short film
It started as “The Magical Dog Chase” later redubbed as “Ang habulan” (The chase)
Initially started in 2009 but was dropped in 2010 due to private concerns. It’s going to be a one-man project unless I can find collaborators who don’t mind helping a friend out without pay XD. I don’t think it could make it to this year’s Animahenasyon but will try..besides I got another concept in mind for this year contest.
Story Synopsis:
“Dominic was going home after being fired from his seventh job. He finds a dog near the tricycle terminals and ignores it because of too much depression. As the tricycle drives him to home the dog follows him along the way until they reach home.”
As for progress reports don’t expect much..remember a one-man project..For those interested in helping me out you can send me an e-mail
What do you think of this story thus far?
